Over 20 years ago, a trailblazer named Veronica had a vision … a company owned by women, sharing stories about women and other voices that would not be picked up by mainstream publishers, labels or media. These stories would be nuggets of inspiration, stories that would offer hope and healing, stories that needed to be shared. She kicked down doors, smashed glass ceilings with a single-minded goal: inclusiveness for all. And so began Roar Publishing Inc. (2001) soon followed by Roar Records Inc. (2013)

In 2017, a second trailblazer, Corrine, joined the company, with a shared passion for music and great stories. With a powerful narrative of “women supporting women”, the company produced and released what became a defining moment: “RISE” by Elyse Saunders, the song inspired by Jessica Phoenix, as well as the book RISE: The Jessica Phoenix Story by Julie Fitz-Gerald.

The CHR version of the song created by DJ Danny D would remain on the HOT MUSIC CHART for 13 consecutive weeks. It was a favorite of an international soccer team – and the theme song for an Olympic broadcast show. The book would become a popular school tour, with both Julie and Jessica visiting students across Canada: children would spontaneously sing the song “RISE” while awaiting eagerly for the presentation to begin. The “RISE Movement” was born! Roar had achieved its vision: creating stories of inspiration across multiple platforms.

In 2021 our music roster expanded to include Ana Pac, Wendy Irvine,  Jeff Jones,  and Stephen Adrian Lawrence.  We brought into the family a massive talent in Dave Patel, as our new Music Director. And 2022 was just as busy, signing The Holy Gasp. Expect to see new albums released in 2023  and 2024 from several of our artists – something we are very excited about!  

The Fall of 2021 saw us release a second book by Julie Fitz-Gerald, Faith To Rise: A Journey to Joy and Centering, along with its companion journal. The book has gone on to win several awards AND is a popular inspirational feature on several US Network radio stations!

In 2022, we created Roar Represents – the place to go to find remarkable motivational speakers and spokespersons, from three-time Olympian Jessica Phoenix to high-school teacher and TIKTOK sensation Jo Johnson to Special Olympian Julia Kostecki to Stephanie Marie, an influencer of Ojibwe heritage. And of course, we represent Ana Pac and Julie Fitz-Gerald.

Roar continues to evolve as a collaborative home with the goal of bringing up-lifting and inclusive stories to the world, be they in print, in song, or feel good social media moments. We are firm in our belief that kindness and humanity are universal stories that deserve to be shared.
